4th year triathlete on Team NRGY

The concept of team has never been a foreign one to me. I've been fortunate enough to have competed in athletics dating back to little league baseball, extending into high school sports, and even going so far as to include 1 year of college baseball. What I never realized, though, is how the team concept can fit into an individual sport such as triathlon. Being a part of Team NRGY has allowed me to elevate my racing goals and achievements to unexpected levels. There are the obvious components of Team NGRY, including the structured workouts and training plans, that can result in better overall performance. But the intangible components are of much greater benefit. Having a person/people to share a workout with, help lighten the stress of a difficult race, or help in sharing the joys of finishing, whether it be in 1st or last place. These are the REAL benefits of the team. The races will come and go by quickly, but the friendships forged in the hours spent training will last forever. THAT'S what the team means to me.
 


George Veliky is a husband, father and Center Director of Omni Eye Services, Iselin, NJ. George recently completed his first 70.3 Event at Eagleman in Cambridge, Maryland. George is an avid marathoner, having qualified 6x times for the Boston Marathon (but run it 7x).
