Favorite Race and Why

Ironman France (Nice') - Location, Location, Location and the bike course was stupendously fun

Most Memorable Moment in Sport

Running a 10k on the Naval Base in Norfolk. I did not know how to race; I started out slow and picked up speed, I passed people I thought I could not beat because I was patient. That was my epiphany moment in sports where I learned that I had untapped potential. My friend had told me "You Can Do It" before the race - it was amazing racing having someone believe in you. That moment changed my racing philosophies and coaching approaches. It is always good to have someone believe in you.

Favorite Race and Why

The Puerto Rico 70.3 was my favorite race because it was the first half that I completed. The run was tough because of the heat, but it was very rewarding to cross the finishline. The whole course was beautiful, especially biking next to the ocean and running along the fort walls. I also got 2nd place in my age group.

Most Memorable Moment in Sport

My most memorable moment was competing in the 2013 Maccabiah Games in Israel. I had a blast racing internationally and met some amazing people.

Favorite Race and Why

Tie between St. Croix 70.3 and SavageMan.  Both are very tough races with totally different weather.  St. Croix is hot, humid, and windy whereas SavageMan is cold, windy, and usually rainy.  I enjoy these races the most because of the challenging bike and run courses.  I also have 2 Bricks in the Wall at SavageMan.

Most Memorable Moment in Sport

First SavageMan race in 2011 because this is the first race that I was able to swim the entire swim leg.  I had just stated competing in triathlons in 2010 (2010 Nation’s Triathlon was my first triathlon) and I just started to learn how to swim in 2010, which was a full year process.  The previous races to the 2011 SavageMan race, my swim leg was any kind of stroke I can think of just to make forward progress (my idea of backstroke, doggy paddle, side stroke, anything!).  SavageMan in 2011 was the first time that I was able to actually swim freestyle for the entire leg.  I got out of the water and this huge weight felt like it was lifted off of my shoulders.
